ADVERTISEMENT FOR CONTRACT JOBS FOR THE YOUTH


The Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (RVWWDA) was established vide gazette notice No. 1715 of 12th March 2004 as a state corporation answerable to the ministry of Water and Sanitation following the implementation of the provision of the Water Act, 2002. We wish to advertise for the positions listed below targeting the youth and persons living with disabilities. The successful candidates will be placed on a one year contract renewable only once based on the performance at the end of the period.

Engineer (4 Posts) Job Ref: RWB/HR/ENG.CNT/1/2019  

The Engineer will be responsible for supervision and administration of projects. He / She will be reporting to the Rural Asset Development Manager/Asset Development Manager.

Job Descriptions

  1. Preparation of structural designs, survey and civil works drawings including detailing of steel and concrete structures layouts and details of drainage schemes roads and paved areas
  2. Production of bar bending schedules of all works
  3. In addition, the officer will work under the guidance of a more experienced officer in preparation of scheme drawings and details pertaining to the design of sewerage disposal systems, paved areas and allied engineering structures
  4. Taking off quantities for simple projects
  5. Carry out elementary survey and leveling for civil engineering schemes.
  6. Supervision of construction of civil and structural works
  7. Preparation of Monthly project progress reports
  8. Any other duty that may be assigned.

Job Specifications

  1. Must be in possession a degree in Civil and Structural Engineering or Its Equivalent from a reputable institution
  2. Must have a one year experience in a relevant field or undergone an internship programme of not less than six months
  3. Must have a certificate of good conduct
  4. Registration with EBK as a graduate Engineer is an added advantage.

 


Water Technicians (3 Posts) Job Ref: RWB/HR/WT.CNT/2/2019  

Job Descriptions

  1. Assist in supervision of water works development project under the guidance of a more experienced officer.
  2. Assist in the administration of contracts, including checking on the estimate costs of water projects.
  3. Assist in checking the adherence to specification and standards.
  4. Preparation of monthly project progress reports.
  5. Ensure that work progresses on schedule.
  6. Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.

  1. Must be in possession a Diploma  in Water Engineering or its equivalent from a reputable institution

Job Descriptions

  1. Assist in groundwater exploration, groundwater monitoring.
  2. Undertakes supervision of drilling and test pumping operations
  3. Up-dating of ground water maps.
  4. Preparation of monthly reports.

Procurement Assistant (2 Posts) Job Ref: RWB/HR/PA.CNT/4/2019  

Job Descriptions

  1. Assist in procurement and safe custody of stores under the guidance of a more   experienced officer.
  2. Assist in issuance of stores.
  3. Establishing trends of stores.
  4. Recommending on disposal of unserviceable stores, working-out re-order levels.
  5. Monitors stock levels and re-ordering when stocks reach re-order levels.
  6. Assist in carrying out Market Surveys

Corporate Communications Assistant ( 1 Posts) Job Ref: RWB/HR/.CCA.CNT/5/2019  

Job Descriptions

  1. Offer support to Corporate Communication Manager in designing and editing materials for a range of audiences and contexts, including research and meeting reports.
  2. Liaise with graphic designers and other vendors to develop and produce materials.
  3. Ensure branding and style compliance, and represent Communication Team policies and guidelines across all materials.  
  4. Assist the Corporate Communications Manager during local and global conferences in managing exhibitions, coordinating support staff, and organizing conferences materials.  
  5. Coordinate or lead communication related trainings or events for staff or partners
  6. Assist in ensuring SEO-friendly website content at www.rvwsb.go.ke and suggest areas for improvement and edit for consistency and accuracy.  
  7. Assist in creating, editing and posting creative content on RVWSB’s Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn platforms using translated technical content and program updates.  
  8. Assist in repurposing and creating fresh content for Bi-monthly RIVA Water Newsletters and other direct communication.  
  9. Assist in maintaining a collection of photos, graphics, icons, infographics, databites video clips to use in various digital content.  
  10. Regularly monitor website and social media metrics and analyze monthly.  Maintain digital database and support the physical library of RVWSB tools and resources.
  11. Work with the Corporate Communication Manager to develop and implement national and global media strategies that advance RVWSB’s visibility
  12. Assist to coordinate responses to incoming media inquiries, review of press releases
  13. Any other duty that may be assigned.

Job Specifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, international relations/development, or a related field.
  2. Background in communications, media relations, and/or knowledge management preferred.  
  3. Must have a one year experience in a relevant field or undergone an internship programme of not less than six months
  4. A registered member of Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) or/and Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK) will be an added advantage

Job Descriptions

  1. Driving the Boards vehicles earmarked for current ongoing projects within the Board area of jurisdiction
  2. Undertaking routine checks and maintenance of motor vehicles.
  3. Detecting and reporting any malfunctioning of the vehicle systems.
  4. Ensuring security of vehicles on and off the road.
  5. Maintaining accurate and up to date records of work tickets for the vehicle   assigned.
  6. Taking necessary precautions to ensure safety of passengers and/or goods.
  7. Alerting supervisors on renewal of relevant licences.
  8. Keeping the assigned vehicle(s) clean.
  9. Any other duties assigned.

  1. Must have a valid driving License – BCE

Job Description

For appointment to a position in this section, an intern must have the following minimum requirements;

a) A bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Mass Communication, Public Relations, Communication Studies or Media Studies or Media Studies / Science from a recognized institution.
b) Must be Computer literate.

Other requirements that a successful interns will be required to have are:
• A valid Police Clearance Certificate (Certificate of good conduct) from directorate of Criminal Investigation;
• Personnel accident insurance to cover for personal risks lasting for at least six months
• Medical Insurance cover by the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) or any other reputable medical insurance firm;
• Copy of National Identity Card (ID) or copy of Passport;
